Great Barrier reef
The Great Barrier Reef is the largest reef in the world. Spanning over 2,600 kilometers (1,600 miles) of ocean floor, marking it as one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The reef is located to the east of Australia in the Pacific Ocean. It is said that the reef is so big it can be seen from space. The reef is the home for many animals, including those who are vulnerable and endangered. The reef is open to the public ,but a large part of it is protected under the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Even though the reef is so massive, it suffers greatly from global warming, coral bleaching, and other harsh pollutants. It is recorded that the reef has lost almost half of its coral cover since 1985. The reef's beautiful colors and amazing size has made it a huge destination for tourism.
